    Does what you ask it to

    I have used the Fast Track 1 in any guitar that has single coil size routing since about 1990. I found the Air Classic humbucker around the same time and it has been my go to Humbucker size pickup as well. The two are very similar in the way they respond to the players attack. The placement of the pickup is key and should be done strictly by the ear and not by what looks right. If all things are put close to the strings the pickup sounds like a bright PAF with P90 type highs. As it is backed away the dynamic range of a single coil is demonstrated. Output is a bit low for a typical humbucker but similar to a nice P90 type. I play mostly jazz but this pickup is very good at playing anything as long as the player knows how to play.     Dimarzio DP181 Fast Track 1

    Installed this in the middle position of a Ibanez 3550. It works very well in 2 & 4 positions with Tone Zone and Air Norton. Holds its own in 3 as well. Touchy to find the sweet zone but it works and sounds good when found. Going to leave it in. 100 percent improvement over stock weak single coil. Cut the stock wires and splice and tape it in, no solder required and easy to swap if needed.

    Great pickup!

    I was looking for a replacement pickup for the bridge of my strat, which had a Fender Vintage Noiseless and to my ears it was a bit weak. I wanted a more powerful sound, without losing the single coil-quality of the guitar, and this pickup was exactly that: It retains the single coil quality, has more bass end, great clarity and better sustain. Without knowing it, it was everything I was looking for.
