      Be sure you need it

      Cushion plates like this are supposed to keep the back your guitar/bass from getting indents or scars from the metal plate used to secure your bolt-on guitar neck. They work, except that they can keep the screws from going all the way in to the neck holes, and keep the neck from getting as tight to the guitar body as it can. In my case, that fraction of an inch was enough to make a difference in the fit, and in my case (Fender Squier VM SS bass) it changed the "height" of the neck joining the body. Just be careful that this pad does not change the fit and measurements of a bolt-on neck.
