Don't get me wrong, these are nice tuning machines and perfect if you are looking to replace like for like or are creating a bass to Fender specifications. The first problem i encountered was that the grommets were too big for the holes pre-drilled in my Mighty Mite Licensed by Fender neck. Extra drilling was required which wasn't as easy as it sounds I bought 4 of these for a project. 3 of them were perfect... the other was poorly machined and did not work. The post was slightly wobbly as the washer wasn't enough to tighten it to the key plate - once the string put the post under tension it was grinding on the grommet and causing the key to be severely stiff. I spotted the problem and fashioned an addition washer out of some thin plastic I had lying around and this solved the problem. The other issue I had was with one of the small screws to mount the machine to the neck. With it screwed in about 3/4 of the way the head sheared off the screw leaving me with the threaded screw stuck in my head stock with no way of getting it out - I had to drill around the screw leaving a huge mess in my head stock which had to be filled with wood filler - not ideal. It was the second of the screws I had used - no surprise that I threw the rest away and used some other screws I had lying around. I have managed to end up with a fully working set of tuning machines - it was just hard work! With hindsight I wish I had opted for Gotoh or Hipshot.Read full review

They dont fit genuine American precision bass vintage nek.The back of the tuners are not flat as there is the roll over clamps holding the worm gear. This would require routing out of the back of the headstock. This is something i am not prepared to do to a $2000 neck.Very disappointed.BIg waste of money and time.Purchased gotoh machine heads in Australia and they fitted straight away.Through the Fender ones in the bin.

The description implies that these are American parts for American vintage basses. But since they’re now made in Korea, the description should say “FITS American Vintage” instead of saying these ARE American Vintage parts.

I didn't go wring in choosing this tuners for my first bass build. This is in fact what is installed on the US Geddy Lee Fender Jazz Bass.

I just like the long neck reverse tuners. It’s what I grew up with on my 1962 Fender Bass (Precision). I assembled a new Fender bass using random Fender parts and these worked perfectly on my MIM Roasted Maple neck.
